OPHTHALMOLOGICAL PATHOLOGIES
Among ophthalmological pathologies, which are more prevalent in people with Down’s syndrome, several affect the eye’s appendages. These include congenital palpebral malposition (the most common ocular anomaly in Down’s syndrome, which can lead to chronic damage to the cornea or conjunctiva, or even amblyopia), inflammatory eyelid pathologies (also frequent), and congenital obstructions of the nasolacrimal passages (more common in children).
Dr. Hervé Walti, a pediatrician at the Institut Jérôme Lejeune, describes these different pathologies in the video and the accompanying data sheet. Discover the entire “Ophthalmological pathologies” chapter by clicking on the links on the right of the page.
